HETTICK, Ill. (KSDK) - A man was hospitalized in Springfield after being trapped under an overturned tractor for more than 10 hours Sunday.

Macoupin County officials received a call late Sunday night about the victim being located on private property in the 25000 block of Horseshoe Road just outside Hettick.

The victim, identified as 66-year-old Ronald Releford, was working the property in his tractor, spraying weeds on a hillside, when the vehicle flipped over.  Releford was thrown from the tractor and trapped underneath.

According to authorities, the accident happened around 1:00 p.m. Sunday, but it wasn't until after 11:00 p.m. Sunday that Releford was located.

Releford's wife made repeated calls to her husband on his cell phone to no avail, then went to the farm to look for her spouse.  After having no luck, the woman then contacted friends and deputies to assist her in the search.

Releford was airlifted to St. John's Hospital in Springfield with serious injuries.
