FLORISSANT, Mo. (KSDK) - Copper burglaries in unoccupied homes are becoming more common in the city of Florissant, police say.
A copper burglary is when someone breaks into a residence, steals copper piping and sells it to scrap yards. Police say that neighbors often confuse these burglars for people who are simply working on the property.
The Florissant Police Department is asking residents to be aware of unoccupied homes within their neighborhoods and to report any sort of suspicious activity to authorities.
