Four teenagers were riding on an inner tube Saturday afternoon when it flipped near Potosi. All four were swept away by the swift current.
Art Schaefer and his cousin were on his property when they heard a commotion coming from the nearby river. When they got to the bank, they could see two people in serious trouble.
"The water was up and it was moving fast," Schaefer said. It was all muddy, as rivers get when they get flooded. Both of their faces they were just terrified , they were trying to get someone to help them. When we got to them they said they were in the river for about 20 minutes."
Schaefer called 911. The teenagers ended up clinging to trees on two different parts of the river. Crews from both the Potosi and Big River Fire Departments pulled them to safety.
All four victims were visiting from Arkansas. Firefighters say they were all pretty shaken up, but are otherwise fine
