A rodeo clown that made fun of President Barack Obama at the Missouri State Fair has started a national debate that's getting louder and louder.
Conservative commentators like Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck are defending the act, saying that the event was blown out of proportion.
The Missouri State Fair has banned performer Tuffy Gessling, who was seen egging the rodeo clown on, for life. The clown himself hasn't been publicly identified.
Gessling's supporters are reaching out on his Facebook page, even starting a petition on the White House website asking the president to defend him.
Texas Republican Congressman Steve Stockman came to the clown's defense on Twitter, and asked him to perform in his district.
The Missouri Chapter of the NAACP, meanwhile, wants the Secret Service and the Justice Department to investigate the incident. The Secret Service told CNN that they don't believe the behavior rises to the level of a threat.
