ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Rico Combs, the 25-year-old man wanted for a shooting at a housing complex near Edward Jones Dome that left one man dead and another seriously injured, was arrested by St. Louis Police Thursday night.

"Rico Combs has been captured," the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department tweeted. "Thanks to the excellent work of our Intelligence Unit a dangerous criminal is off the street [tonight]."

Police say Combs was taken into custody in the 2800 block of Victor Street after a brief foot pursuit.

The Circuit Attorney's Office issued at-large warrants for first degree murder, assault, domestic assault, burglary and other charges for Combs in connection with the shooting.

Police say bombs broke the window of a home at the Cambridge-Cochran Complex in the 1300 block of North Seventh Street with a brick at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday and shot 27-year-old John Gorman and another man. Combs' three children and their mother were hiding in a closet when the incident happened.

Gorman died from his gunshot wounds, and the second man is currently hospitalized in critical and unstable condition.

The children are 3, 5 and 7 years old.

Combs was not living with the mother and the children at the time, and did not have permission to be in the home, documents from the Circuit Attorney's Office say.

Police say Combs pressed a pistol to the mother's forehead as she clung to her children, leaving her with a circular injury and other cuts and lacerations. The two men Combs shot were the mother's childhood friends, according to police.

Combs' past convictions include resisting arrest and assault of a law enforcement officer in the third degree, felony stealing, property damage and tampering.
