ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - The Mosaic restaurants in Des Peres and downtown are shut down, and that had one woman reaching out to 5 on your Side.

Marilyn Heller bought a $60 gift certificate to Mosaic Tapas just two weeks ago, now the restaurants are closed down, and the numbers for customers to call on signs posted on the doors of the restaurants do not work.

So with nobody to contact, Heller doesn't know how to get her money back. She bought the gift card for her daughter Jessica as a birthday gift. Now the gift is worthless.

Heller believes she was deceived. Mosaic's owner, Claus Schmitz, told our partners, the St. Louis Business Journal he shut down the restaurants for personal reason, he is moving to Australia to be closer to his daughters.

So when Heller bought the card just two weeks ago, she thinks the restaurant should have known what was coming and not sold it to her.

5 on Your Side's Mike Rush made some phone calls and was able to get in touch with a former manager.

Nadia Bruno says she no one was told the restaurants were closing. She tells Mike she will try to get Heller her money back.

If you are in a similar situation, you can email Nadia at nadia@mosaicrestaurants.com. If you paid with a credit card, you may be able to be reimbursed that way.

Anyone who has purchased a Groupon for Mosaic can contact Groupon at www.Groupon.com/Customer_Support to receive a refund.
