CENTREVILLE, Ill. (KSDK) - Two volunteer firefighters were rushed to the hospital after falling ill while battling a house fire.
It happened in the 5900 block of Bond Avenue in Centreville, Ill. Saturday night.
Camp Jackson and four other fire departments responded to a call, saying a woman was trapped inside a burning home in Centreville.
After about 4 searches, firefighters discovered no one was inside.
That's when a Prairie Dupont captain was overcome by the heat.
She was transported to the hospital.
Minutes later, firefighters noticed a Camp Jackson lieutenant, who has a prior medical condition, was in a similar situation.
They say he actually appeared to be overcome by heat, was dizzy, disoriented and very weak.
The Camp Jackson firefighter is resting at home now and is expected to be back on the job in less than a week.
The Prairie Dupont captain is also expected to be ok.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it appears to be accidental.
