Police investigating more car beak-ins overnight

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - The endless rash of car break-in's through the streets of St. Louis continues overnight with separate reports of cars vandalized near the St. Louis University campus and around Forest Park.

NewsChannel 5 documented several vehicles that were broken into in the 3700 block of Laclede Avenue just after midnight Monday morning.

While at that scene, it was also mentioned that a number of vehicles near Forest Park where the annual LouFest took place were also vandalized.

Police say on Saturday three vehicles were damaged while the owners were at a gathering at Kennedy Forest between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Purses, an iPod, and a backpack were among the stolen items.

On Sunday, police say 29 vehicles were damaged at Loufest. Five of the vehicles were parked at Grand and West Pine and broken into between 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Wallets, backpacks, electronics, and personal papers were stolen.

One vehicle was parked at the World's Fair Pavilion and broken into between 7 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. Nothing was stolen from that vehicle.

Eighteen vehicles parked in the 5100 block of Clayton were damaged between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. Electronics and a flat iron were among items stolen from those cars.

Five vehicles parked at Grand and Wells were damaged between 7 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. An iPod was stolen from one vehicle. Owners of three of the other vehicles reported nothing stolen.

Witnesses in the area of the break-ins told officers they saw two African-American men in a black Volkswagon. Police continue to investigate.
