ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Chances are, you've seen a promo or two for it. NBC's new game show, "Million Second Quiz" debuts Monday night.
Though it might sound like familiar territory, the show is out to carve a niche that's all its own.
Game shows used to be a staple of primetime television, but everything old is new again.
"We're trying to rewrite the rule book about what you do for something like a quiz show," said Stephen Lambert, executive producer of "Million Second Quiz."
Starting with a mammoth outdoor set built against a New York City backdrop, the giant hourglass-shaped set will be home to a nightly hour hosted by Ryan Seacrest. It will spotlight the players in a trivia marathon, going on 24 hours a day for nearly 12 days.
The players also face competition from viewers at home. They can answer the very same questions via smartphone, tablet, or computer, and potentially earn a trip to New York to play.
Players who make it to the show's "money chair" could earn thousands of dollars per hour, culminating in a $2 million prize on the show's finale Sept. 19.
To get everyone excited for the show, NewsChannel 5 has decided to do a little trivia contest of our own. Our prize is 11 iPad Minis. Click here for more information on our contest.
You can watch the premiere of "Million Second Quiz" at 7 p.m. Monday night.
