ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KSDK) - A Florissant resident has been awarded a scholarship for her college education as part of an insurance company's philanthropic endeavors to empower young women.
Kaitlin Bethel will receive a one-time payment of $5,000 to her college of choice to help cover the cost of tuition, room and board, and books.
Since 1961, insurer Royal Neighbors of America has bestowed more than $4 million with its New Horizons scholarships.
Serving over 200,000 members, Royal Neighbors of America's philanthropic efforts are dedicated to changing women's lives through programs such as Nation of Neighbors Program, and the Royal Neighbors Foundation, a 501©(3) charity.
Members of the organization can apply for the scholarship from September 1 through March 1. Royal Neighbors of America accepts applications from its members during that time.
