ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - If you're headed to Forest Park Saturday for the Great Forest Park Balloon Race, you'll probably see lots of police.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department is adding marked and unmarked patrols all weekend to help crack down on car break-ins.

Criminals busted out dozens of windows and rummaged through cars on multiple occasions over the summer. Officers are hoping to stop the crime or at least catch the bad guys in the act.
"I've definitely seen a lot more police presence out here," said one visitor Friday night.

"It makes me feel a lot more comfortable with leaving my vehicle here unattended," added another.
St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson says crime is down overall in the city. But car break-ins have spiked this year.
