Illinois State Police arrest 3 Georgia men for weapons, money and drugs

DU QUOIN, Ill. (KSDK) - A traffic stop along westbound Interstate 64 resulted in the arrest of three men and the retrieval of money and drugs.

Josh Brown, 27, the driver of the car, has been charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and possession of cannabis. Passengers Javier Padilla, 22, and Morgan Brown, 19, were also charged with possession of cannabis.

According to Illinois State Police, a trooper pulled over a rental car along I-64, near milepost 45, carrying three people, who were all from Georgia. Brown, the driver of the car, admitted to the officer that he had a loaded 9-millimeter pistol next to his seat.

The trooper searched the car, which resulted in the discovery of more than $25,000, a jar of more than 5 grams of cannabis and an AR-15 rifle. No one had a valid Georgia conceal carry permit, according to police.

All three men remain in Washington County Jail.
