O'FALLON, Ill. (KSDK) - The Hope for Heroes program is collecting donations for junior enlisted members affected by the government shutdown.
The Scott Air Force Base commissary closed Wednesday as a result of the shutdown. It provided military members up to 30 percent in savings when they used the commissary on certain items.
Communities are asked to donate canned goods, dry goods, paper products, hygiene items, and baby items.
