ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KSDK) - Furloughed government workers can eat for free every day until the shutdown is over at a local restaurant.

Sugar Fire Smoke House in Olivette is offering free "shutdown sandwiches" with turkey, pork, brisket and condiments. The owner says the restaurant is so busy that he doesn't mind giving back.

"I think I'm like everybody. I'm just tired of looking at the big mess that everybody is making out of the government, and I just want to do something nice for everybody," said Mike Johnson.

The restaurant gave away about 40 free sandwiches Wednesday.
