GRANITE CITY, Ill. (KSDK) - First it was Cape Girardeau, now another local city is getting the Hollywood treatment.
Producer Valerie McCaffrey was in Granite City from Wednesday to Friday to meet local officials and discuss making a movie based on the 2007 book "Men of Granite," which told the true story of the 1940 Granite City High School basketball team.
The team, which featured future University of Illinois and NBA star Andy Phillips, had five first-generation American starters and won the Illinois schoolboy championship in Champaign, Ill.
McCaffrey's most recent producing credit as "Lost and Found in Armenia." She also served as a casting director for New Line and Universal studios.
