KSDK- The federal Amber Alert website is back online after being offline due to the federal government shutdown. While it was offline, authorities said the Amber Alert system would continue to operate as normal.
During the shutdown, the Amber Alert site displayed the message: "Due to the lapse in federal funding, this Office of Justice Programs (OJP) website is unavailable."
The Amber Alert program is a voluntary partnership between law-enforcement agencies, broadcasters, transportation agencies and the wireless industries to activate an urgent bulletin the most serous child-abduction cases.
The 'majority' of the 3,500 furloughed workers at Scott Air Force Base were ordered back to work Monday, after the Pentagon announced Saturday that most of its 400,000 furloughed civilians would be headed back to work.
