LONG ISLAND, N.Y. (KSDK) - One school is playing hardball with its students' safety by not letting them use hard balls during recess.
That's right, on the list of items no longer allowed at Weber Middle School in Port Washington, N.Y., according to CNN? Footballs, baseballs, soccer balls, lacrosse balls and any other hardballs that could hurt a child.
Also making the ban list are rough games of tag and cartwheels.
The school district says the new restrictions are necessary because of the limited space on the playground. Soft Nerf balls will be provided during recess, and kids can play with hardballs during gym and intramural athletics.
