Ash Wednesday mass in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – Worshippers attended mass at the Old Cathedral in downtown St. Louis for Ash Wednesday.

They also stood in line to have their foreheads marked with the symbol of a cross in ash.

Ash Wednesday is the beginning of the 40-day Lenten season, which calls on many Christians to fast, pray and reflect.

It ends on Easter Sunday.
