Body found in Belleville identified as missing woman

BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KSDK) – The woman found dead outside of an auto shop on Main Street has been identified as 83-year-old Roxie Simpson, who was reported missing by her family Tuesday night.

An autopsy revealed that Simpson died of hypothermia, and may have suffered some sort of injury related to a fall. Simpson – who had been diagnosed with dementia – lived alone, but had family nearby.

It is believed that she walked away from her home, according to a news release, and became confused in the cold weather.
