Carpenter allows four runs in Memphis rehab start

(KSDK) Chris Carpenter's comeback trail continued Saturday night in Memphis.

Facing the Oklahoma City Red Hawks, Carpenter, who has missed all season with the reoccurrence of shoulder nerve issues, threw 74 pitches, 49 for strikes.

Yet Carp allowed two runs in both the second and third innings and gave up nine hits along the way.

He went three-and-a-third innings, striking out two and walking two.

Although he had similar results in his rehab start in Springfield on Monday, the telling lines for Carpenter will continue to be having no after-start issues in the next couple of days, and continuing to build arm strength against live hitters.

Carpenter expects to throw a bullpen session in St. Louis on Monday, with the likelihood of pitching again in Memphis on Thursday.
