Claire McCaskill holds campus sex assault forum

WASHINGTON D.C. (KSDK) - Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) held the first of three roundtable discussions Monday aimed at examining where current federal laws regarding campus sexual assaults fall short.

One in five women is sexually assaulted in college, McCaskill said, and more must be done to protect them.

"I think you have to make sure we have a range of punishments that are realistic to hold campuses accountable," she said.

The senator is surveying 450 institutions around the country to get a better idea about "weak spots" in campus enforcement.
