4-year-old injured in north city shooting

ST. LOUIS – A 4-year-old child was injured Wednesday evening in a north St. Louis shooting.

Police say at 7:20 p.m. two men, a woman, and her 4-year-old son were riding in a vehicle near Newstead and Kossuth when a dark-colored vehicle with three or four men inside started following them. The suspects then fired inside the victims' vehicle.

The victims drove to the area of Lee and Dryden, stopping in the front yard of a home. The victims were able to get out of the vehicle and run from the scene.

Police say the 4-year-old's mom grabbed him and ran into a home. The mom was not injured. The boy suffered a minor cut to his head. Authorities are not sure if he was grazed by a bullet or cut by glass.

The boy was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Police say the male victims have not been found. It is unknown if they were wounded.

Nobody is in custody for the shooting.
