East St. Louis, IL (KSDK) - A Brooklyn, Illinois man was sentenced Friday for one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute cocaine base.
Court documents state 51-year-old Desi Poindexter was sentenced to 121 months in prison, five years of supervised release, fined $500 and ordered to pay a $100 special assessment.
Poindexter pleaded guilty to the charges and admitted that he helped a co-defendant' cocaine base operation between 2008 and 2010.
He helped the co-defendant by distributing quantities of the base to various customers, collected drug money, and stored the cocaine base and money at his home.
Authorities say Poindexter helped with the distribution of at least 650 grams of cocaine base during the two year time frame.
