St. Peters, MO (KSDK) - The St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney's Office charged the owner of a local laser hair removal clinic with sexual assault, the St. Peter Police Department said Wednesday.
According to Officer Melissa Doss, a police spokeswoman, 48-year-old Lawrence Branam was arrested Tuesday afternoon at Cosmetic Laser Center, located at 7030 Mexico Road.
A woman contacted police and accused Branam of making inappropriate sexual contact with her during laser hair removal treatments, Doss said. After several appointments, she said Branam began touching her in places that were not treated as part of the laser hair removal process. She said the touching was sexual in nature and unwanted.
"After she received the hair removal treatment the third time, she said he started to rub the ointment in the areas that were treated and his hands started to slowly move in areas that were not treated as part of this process," said Melissa Doss, St. Peters Police spokesperson.
Lawrence Branam was charged with deviate sexual assault and jailed on $100,000 bond. He was previously charged in St. Charles County with third-degree assault for a similar incident.
Last year, another woman accused Branam of inappropriately touching her. He's set to go on trial in August for that charge, which is an assault charge.
Anyone who received treatment at Cosmetic Laser Center by Lawrence Branam and feels they may have been a victim of sexual assault is asked to contact the St. Peters Police Department at 636-278-2244.
