East St. Louis, IL (KSDK) - Illinois State Police are looking for additional witnesses to a Monday evening shooting that has claimed the life of an unidentified victim who was playing basketball.

Police in East St. Louis responded to the crime around 7:40 p.m. last night at the court located on 40th Street and Audubon Avenue.

Investigators say the victim and several others were playing basketball when someone approached the group and opened fire.

The unidentified victim was hit several times by the gunfire and was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.  No other injuries were reported in the attack.

Although authorities have not identified any specific suspect in the shooting, they continue to interview witnesses.
