St. Louis (KSDK) - St. Louis Police are investigating a robbery that involved shots being exchanged inside the doorway of a north St. Louis business late Monday.
Authorities say around 11:50 p.m. Monday a customer was inside the liquor store in the 2900 block of North Newstead when another man entered the store armed with a gun and announced a robbery.
Witnesses say the robbery victim then pull a gun of his own and the two men exchanged shots. The victim was struck once in the upper chest and was transported to an area hospital. At this point in the investigation, police aren't sure if the robbery suspect was injured or just fled the crime scene.
The 31 year old victim was not immediately identified by police but he is expected to survive.
