Columbia, Ill (KSDK) -- The Columbia, Illinois Police Department said an 11-year-old boy and his older sibling made up an attempted abduction story.

The duo told police on August 17 that a man tried to abduct the 11-year-old boy from the area of West Locust and North Main Street.

Police released a sketch and vehicle description based on what the 11-year-old told police.

Police said detectives re-interviewed the older sister and she admitted to not being with her brother at the time of the incident. They then re-interviewed the 11-year-old boy and determined it never happened.

The Columbia Police Department plans to forward the information to the Monroe County State's Attorney for his review.
