East Carondelet, IL (KSDK) - Two people have been charged for falsely reporting an attempted abduction.
Mayor Herb Simmons says police say they got a call around 7:30 p.m. Sunday that a man grabbed a girl in an attempt to abduct her from a park on 7th Street. They were told the girl escaped and the man left, traveling east toward Dupo.
The girl and her 19-year-old sister, Marlona Pollard, were interviewed and police determined the report was false.
They had given a false description of a car, and after police reviewed surveillance cameras in the area, they realized no such vehicle had been in the area.
Pollard has been charged with felony disorderly false report related to a child abduction. Her bond is set at $20,000.
Tony Johnson, a 23-year-old St. Louis resident, is also charged with felony disorderly false report related to a child abduction. His bond is set at $40,000.
