St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - The St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office charged a 42-year-old local man in connection with the sexual assault of a wheelchair-bound patient at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
According to the Circuit Attorney's Office, the incident occurred August 24 just after 4:40 p.m. The victim told authorities she was wheeled out of the hospital against her will and groped. Due to her physical condition, the victim was unable to get away or resist his advances.
The suspect, identified as Daniel Hooper, is believed to have touched the victim's genitals and breasts without her permission.
Prosecutors charged Hooper with kidnapping and two counts of sexual abuse.
The Circuit Attorney's Office identified a dozen prior convictions on Daniel Hooper's record, dating back to 1995. Those convictions range from drug violation and tampering, to stealing and second-degree burglary. Hooper has four DWI convictions, the latest coming in April 2011. Hooper was on parole for that conviction.
