Winnsboro, LA (KNOE/CNN) - Investigators in Louisiana say a woman who claimed attackers set her on fire made the whole thing up.
Sharmeka Moffitt said men wearing white hoodies attacked her in a Winnsboro park over the weekend. Louisiana State Police now say the evidence doesn't match up with her account.
Investigators found Moffitt's fingerprints on a cigarette lighter near the scene.
DNA evidence on a lighter fluid container has also led them to believe her burns were self-inflicted.
She's also believed to have written "KKK" and other racial slurs on her own car.
Moffitt suffered burns on more than 60-percent of her body and remains in critical condition.
The D.A.'s office will decide if she'll face charges.
