Benton, IL (KSDK) - A prisoner at the United States Penitentiary in Marion, Illinois was arraigned Friday for possessing a weapon in prison.
Court documents state 32-year-old Lamar Elmer Smith was caught on August 16, 2012 with a seven inch long sharpened piece of metal.
If convicted, Smith faces up to five more years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release.
Smith is currently serving a 211 month prison sentence for conspiring to distribute cocaine, and possessing a firearm during a drug trafficking crime.
