St. Louis (KSDK)-- A homicide investigation unit from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department was called to investigate an infant death Monday morning.
Police responded to a home in the 2300 block of University Street around 3 a.m. for reports of an unresponsive child.
A one-month-old infant boy was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Police say the victim was co-sleeping with the mother and another child when the mother noticed the child wasn't breathing.
It is standard procedure for homicide units to investigate child deaths.
A child abuse unit is now investigating the incident.
