Band member shot at downtown bar

ST. LOUIS – A man sitting in the patio area of the Broadway Oyster Bar was wounded overnight by a stray bullet.

The man, identified as a member of the Funky Butt Brass Band, was playing at the bar Thursday night as part of a different band. Police say the bullet went into and back out of his shoulder around 2 a.m. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment and released.

Authorities say the shot was fired from the White Castle parking lot across the street from the bar. People inside two vehicles were shooting at one another when one of the bullets hit the victim in the shoulder.

The suspect left the area in a red Chevy Monte Carlo and remains at large.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
