Bank employees injured in Essex, Mo. robbery

ESSEX, Mo. – The FBI is looking to the public for help identifying two men who robbed a rural Missouri bank and assaulted two bank employees.

Two men wearing construction worker-type clothes walked into First Commercial Bank in the 100 block of E. Trotter Street in Essex, Mo. just before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. Police say the suspects took control of the bank, assaulted two employees, and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

One of the bank employees was taken to an area hospital for treatment. That person's condition has not been released.

The suspects are both described as African-American men. The first suspect was last seen wearing blue overalls under a reflective safety vest, black baseball cap, and a brown backpack. The second suspect was last seen wearing a red knit camp with white stripes, a neon yellow zip-up hoodie, and blue jeans.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspects is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS. Callers may be eligible for a reward.

Essex, Mo. is located in Stoddard County, approximately 50 miles southwest of Cape Girardeau.
