Burglar accused of kicking out cop car window

WOOD RIVER, MO. - A burglar is accused of kicking out the window of a police cruiser after he was arrested for breaking into a home.

According to a police report, 31-year-old Brandon Tate broke into a Wood River home around 7:45 a.m. Thursday.

The homeowner returned home to find Tate in her kitchen, and ran away after a confrontation.

Officers from Wood River, East Alton, Roxana and Hartford set up a perimeter and was able to take him into custody after a short chase.

While he was being transported, police say Tate kicked out the rear passenger window of a Wood River police Explorer.

He has been charged with residential burglary and criminal damage to government property. He was also wanted on a felony warrant for offenses related to a motor vehicle.

Tate is being held at the Madison County Jail on a $150,000 bond and a $75,000 bond.
