ST. LOUIS – A young girl is in stable condition after being grazed in the cheek by a bullet Wednesday night.
According to police, the shooting occurred near St. Louis Avenue and Goodfellow Boulevard near Barrett Brothers Park. They say the victim is an 8-year-old girl and that her parents drove her to the hospital.
The victims say they were stopped at a stoplight at the intersection of Goodfellow and St. Louis when a newer model four-door navy blue or black Nissan pulled up to the light and began shooting at an SUV parked near the victims' vehicle.
The windshield of the victims' vehicle was shot and shattered, and the little girl was struck by gunfire.
A NewsChannel 5 photographer on scene captured police placing evidence markers near shell casings. He says at least 20 evidence markers were placed at the intersection.
There are no suspects at this time.
