FERGUSON, Mo. – A woman was shot in the head about one mile from where St. Louis County police shot a suspect early Wednesday morning.
The woman was shot while walking outside in the 1300 block of Highmont around 12:15 a.m. When officers arrived at the scene they found her inside a home, alert and talking.
According to police, the woman saw a car drive by, heard five to eight gunshots, and was struck in her forehead. Her skull was not pierced, and police say the weapon appears to have been a small caliber. Witnesses helped the woman into a home and say they say four or five people running from the area.
It's unclear if the shots were fired from the car that drove by.
Police say the woman was taken to an area hospital and is stable.
About an hour later and a mile away, St. Louis County police shot a suspect who they say pointed a weapon at an officer.
