Former IL Police Officer Facing Charges for DUI & Impersonation

Caseyville, IL (KSDK) - A former Brooklyn, Illinois police officer is now facing charges, including impersonating a peace officer, after a traffic stop in Caseyville.

Investigators say Harold J. Johnson was pulled over early Saturday morning in the 2400 block of Old Country Inn Drive.

Police say the 56-year-old identified himself as a Brooklyn, Illinois police officer and had a loaded handgun with him.

Police arrested Johnson for Driving under the Influence and Driving While License Suspended. Later on, it was discovered Johnson was a former police officer, who'd been fired in the past.

It's not clear at this point why Johnson was fired or when it happened.

He is now being held at the St. Clair County Jail with bond set at $10,000.00.
