Former local church intern charged with sex crimes

ST. LOUIS COUNTY – A 26-year-old Valencia, Calif. Man has been charged with statutory sodomy by the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

Brandon Milburn is charged with six counts of first-degree statutory sodomy. Police say there are at least two victims that were 11 or 12-years-old at the time of the abuse, which occurred between 2007 and 2009.

At that time, Milburn was a student at St. Louis Christian College and was interning at First Christian Church in Florissant. A church spokesperson says he was a part time intern working with media and youth.

David Crouch knew him when they went to school together.

"He was a guy that was working at one of the local churches, as a youth ministry intern when I started here, really nice guy and good with the kids," said Crouch.

In 2010, police say Milburn moved to California. No other crimes have been reported from that state, but police are investigating.

Milburn was arrested Thursday at police headquarters. He is held on a $100,000 cash-only bond.

Police ask anyone who may have been a victim to call them at 314-889-2341.

First Christian Church's statement:

Having just heard of these charges from something that happened in 2007, our first concern is with how we can best help any victim heal. The charges point to a time when as a college student he served in a part time role as an intern. For the last several years he has been living in another state. We have a justice system who can do the investigation and we will assist them any way we can as our church family works through this.
