Home invasion suspect uses gun to terrorize woman

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. – A 39-year-old St. Clair, Mo. man has been charged with robbery after allegedly entering a woman's home and terrorizing her.

Michael Murphy is accused of entering a home through a rear door in the 4000 block of N. Virginia Mines Road outside of St. Clair in Franklin County around 2:17 a.m. Tuesday.

Police say Murphy walked into the victim's bedroom, held a handgun to her head, and demanded money. The victim told police Murphy pulled the gun's trigger several times, but the gun did not fire.

Murphy is accused of taking cash that was next to the victim's bed before running out the back door toward White Acres.

Deputies with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office searched the area for Murphy but was unable to locate him.

Anyone with information regarding Murphy's whereabouts is asked to call the Franklin County Sheriff's Office at 636-583-2560. Callers can remain anonymous.

Murphy's bond is set at $250,000.
