Major Case Squad activated in Fenton after man found dead

A search is underway right now for a "person of interest" in a Fenton murder investigation.

FENTON, MO. - The Major Case Squad has been activated to investigate a homicide at the Chancellor Farms Mobile Home Park. Police were called to the 700 block of Chancellor Lane at 4:17 a.m. Wednesday after a man was found dead there.

Hermitage Baptist Church served as a staging area as investigators searched nearby fields, woods, and buildings for “suspicious people in the area.” Police took two persons of interest into custody for questioning.

Capt. Gary Higginbotham from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department says investigators aren’t sure of their roles in this case, but says the two are “related to the incident.”

Investigators are searching for a third person of interest. However, they downsized their search at around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. Higginbotham says the person may no longer be in the area.

No charges have been filed.
