Man accused of murder surrenders

ST. LOUIS – A 43-year-old man surrendered Friday after being charged with murder.

Richard Watson is charged with first-degree murder, first-degree assault, and two counts of armed criminal action for the shooting death of 20-year-old Demetrius Griffin over the weekend.

Officers were called to the 2600 block of Burn around 8:30 p.m. for a report of a shooting. Griffin had been shot in his neck, jaw, thumb, and right arm. He was taken to an area hospital where he died the following evening.

Griffin's 16-year-old brother was shot in his ankles. He was taken to an area hospital in stable condition. He told officers Watson, who is their neighbor, shot them while they were walking outside. He believed Watson was mad about a previous incident.
