Man arrested for U.S. Bank robbery in St. Peters

ST. PETERS, Mo. – St. Peters police say they've arrested a man accused of robbing the U.S. Bank inside of the Schnucks supermarket on Mid Rivers Drive over the weekend.

Earl Pitt of St. Peters is charged with first-degree robbery.

Police accuse 33-year-old Pitt of walking into the store and handing a demand note to a bank teller. The note indicated he had a gun, but he never showed a weapon. He left the area on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

A spokesperson for the St. Peters Police Department says investigators canvassed the area and discovered evidence linking Pitt to the crime. He was taken into custody in O'Fallon, Mo. Saturday evening.

Pitt is held at the St. Charles County Jail on a $150,000 bond. He is also suspected in another robbery that occurred in August at 563 Mid Rivers Mall Drive.

St. Peters police say they're working with other area police agencies that had similar bank robberies in their jurisdiction.
