Man arrested in connection with missing Mo. woman

A potential breakthrough in the search for a missing Missouri woman.

KANSAS CITY, MO. - There's been a potential breakthrough in the search for a missing Missouri woman.

No one has seen or heard from 21-year-old Jessica Runions since Thursday, and now the man last seen with her is behind bars.

Runions was last seen leaving a party Thursday night. Her mother reported her missing Friday evening. Her car was found burned Sunday morning, three days after she was last seen.

Kylr Yust, 27, was arrested on a KCPD warrant for burning the vehicle, which was found abandoned by a road in southern Kansas City on Saturday.

Yust has a troublesome criminal record, including assaulting a former girlfriend and animal abuse for stomping on a cat and throwing two more in a river. He is also the same man who dated Kara Kopetsky before she vanished in 2007. Her case remains open.

Yust is being held in the Benton County Jail on a $50,000 bond. He will eventually be transferred to the Jackson County Jail in Kansas City.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
