Man charged in 2005 Belleville triple murder

New information surfaced in the case that resulted in the charges.

BELLEVILLE, ILL. - A Grand Jury indicted a man arrested just days after the 2005 triple murder on first-degree murder charges Friday.

According to a press release from St. Clair County State's Attorney Brendan Kelly, Samuel Johnson, 50, was charged with three counts of first degree murder for the 2005 stabbing deaths of Michael Cooney and sisters Doris Fischer, Dorothy Bone.

Prosecutors say new information surfaced in the case, leading to Friday's indictment.

Right now Johnson is serving time in a Missouri prison on unrelated charges.
