GRANITE CITY, ILL. - A Granite City man was found guilty Thursday of murdering a 13-year-old boy in Granite City in 2013.
Laroyce McFadden, 21, was charged on May 3, 2013, with first-degree murder for his role in the death of Clayton Veninga.
McFadden was convicted after a two day trial in which Assistant State’s Attorneys Crystal Uhe and Chad Loughrey presented evidence, including witness testimony. The Jury deliberated for about 30 minutes before returning a guilty verdict, a press release from Madison County State's Attorney Thomas Gibbons said.
Sentencing will come after a pre-sentencing investigation, which typically takes between six and eight weeks.
