Man hit by car, injured after trying to stop prank at his home

Oakville High students had a prank turn violent.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY - A 48-year-old man was taken to the hospital late Sunday night after police said a teen boy who was vandalizing the man's home hit him with a car while driving away.

St. Louis County Police said the suspect and three of his friends were TP-ing a home on the 2400 block of Southwind Meadows Court at around 11:45 when the homeowner came out and tried to stop them.

As they were driving away, the homeowner was hit by the car and seriously injured. When police arrived on the scene, the man was still lying in the street. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Officials with the Mehlville School District said the TP-ing is a part of a homecoming tradition at Oakville High School. The school said the victim is the father of a senior at Oakville High School.

The suspect was taken into custody by police, then released. County police said the teenage suspect will be referred to the St. Louis County Family Courts to decide if charges will be filed.
