EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. - A Belleville man has been sentenced to 34 years in prison after a co-worker's body was found in the trunk of his car.
According to a press release from the Madison County State's Attorney, George Tillman, 32, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the killing of Roderick Taylor in December of 2015.
An investigation determined Taylor had been shot multiple times earlier that evening at 26-year-old Ashly S. Bonner's home in Granite City. The body was discovered after Tillman crashed his car. Bonner is also facing charges in this case.
Officers determined Bonner and Tillman, who had a previous relationship, lured Taylor to Bonner's home to rob him. During the robbery, police say Tillman shot Taylor multiple times and Taylor was also hit in the head several times with a VCR and a frying pan.
It's believed Taylor was still alive when he was placed in the trunk of the car.
