Mitchell firefighter's wife charged with burglary

GRANITE CITY, Ill. (KSDK) - A volunteer firefighter's wife is accused of burglarizing the car of another firefighter Wednesday evening, according to Madison County Sheriff's Department.

Sara Copper, 27, faces a felony charge of burglary, according to deputies.

Sheriff's deputies responded to a car burglary report at the Mitchell Fire Department, located in the 200 block of East Chain of Rock's Road in Granite City.

A firefighter said in the course of responding to a fire department on Tuesday, a fellow firefighter's wife, Copper, said his car along with several others had been broken into on the parking lot. He found his wallet and prescription bottle had been taken from his car.

Surveillance video showed Copper was responsible for the theft, deputies said.

Copper was later arrested and taken to Madison County Jail, where she is being held on $75,000 bond.
