Neighborly dispute turns violent over trash can

DE SOTO, Missouri (KSDK) – Two people face charges and one woman is in critical condition following a neighborly dispute turned violent, according to De Soto Police.

Jacob Kelley, 27, Melinda Warden, 28, and Christa Goebel, 33, were involved in a disagreement in the 800 block of North 3rd Street over a trash can, according to police. Kelley struck Goebel in the head with a baseball bat during the confrontation.

Police arrested Kelley and Warden, and each faces charges of first-degree assault and armed criminal action.

Goebel remains in critical condition with potentially life-threatening injuries at an area hospital, according to police.

Kelley and Warden are being held in Jefferson County Jail on $50,000 cash-only bond.
